Beware of Mr. Baker NYT review. CREAM related |
http://movies.nytimes.com/2012/11/28/movies/beware-of-mr-baker-traces-the-rock-drummer-ginger-baker.html?src=dayp&_r=1&Right at the beginning of the new documentary “Beware of Mr. Baker,” the film’s director, Jay Bulger, is attacked by his subject, the rock drummer Ginger Baker. Not verbally attacked, mind you — though there will be plenty of that — but physically, with a metal cane that draws blood when applied to the bridge of the filmmaker’s nose.
He was pissed because they interviewed a few of his former bandmates. Not sure he would restrict his use of drumsticks to his drums.

Can't wait to see this! Had the honor/pleasure of seeing Ginger live with Blind Faith in 69'. Wish I could have seen him with Cream. Thanks for the info and links.

That reminds me: easily the worst gig I ever saw was Ginger Baker's Air Force in the early 70's at Leeds University.
Utterly dire.

Just watched it tonight on netflix. Must see - especially Ginger playing with Fela at the Afro Spot in Nigeria.

Thx L; SDH and I got a kick out of related footage on the progressively less and less stable member of the triumph-FER-it....I've noticed how his crankiness ratchets up in each of the docu flicks on the band with each passing decade; really obvious that he is getting more and more pissed off at Bruce, and just about everyone, frankly.

Where can I find CREAM boots?????
After reading this stuff I immediately switched my 71 Dead off and threw Live Cream vol II on, but I know every note already.

Re: Beware of Mr. Baker NYT review. CREAM related |
Discs 3 and 4 of this box set has some great live music recorded professionally so it sounds good which I believe is a problem with some live Cream recordings,I am not very familiar with their catalog,so someone else would be better qualified to help in that regard.

Yes, that's the problem...there are only a handful of good quality shows (fall of 67, Mar and Oct of 68; that's "it" for SBD snobs, really). Thx for the link, JL...
Sorry, BornE--there's not much more!
